Default Oil capacity question

What is the oil capacity on a 2003 Prairie 650? My AC 650 manual says 1.8 quarts, but it took 2.5 quarts to get it up to the full mark on the dip stick. I did stick a K&N oil filter on it, which has slightly more capacity than the standard filter, but certainly not 7/10 of a quart more.

Thanks in advance for your help. It is great to have Kawasaki owners around to help with questions and share experiences and advice. Your help has already paid great dividends for me on this engine.

make sure you screw in your dipstick to read I thought it was 2.4L but could be wrong.

Dipstick check was done by the book. All the way in.

Default Oil capacity question

Just checked my manual(what a handy little book) and it lists oil cap. as 2.05L(2.17 US quarts). It also says that the dipstick must be threaded all the way in to check the oil level. From experience, DO NOT OVERFILL, it will cause oil to be forced out the crankcase breather, which on the Kawi vents into the airbox and soaks the filter. Not sure if this is the same setup on the Cat, but I would guess it to be similar. Hope this helps.
