P650 Noise during engine braking
#1
During a recent trip to Hatfield McCoy my P650 (2002) about 1,000 miles...began banging and clanging very loudly on downhills while in low range. Tried to disconnect the EBC as we were miles out on the trail (forgot to bring Nyroc's info on which wires to cut) ..no dice...ran into the rev limiter. Hooked the EBC back up and ran the rest of the trip in high range..engine braking was fine..no problems. The really crazy thing is that my buddie's machine also a 2002 P650 did the same thing later in the day. This was the second time we have been to H-M and never had any problems. His machine worked fine in high range as well. Both have belts that are in great shape (6 months old) and we have had the black spring in since aabout 100 miles. Any ideas before we head into the Dealer's clutches?
Thanks!
Thanks!

By the way...Masterblaster...looks like you have a beautiful area to ride in and a little riding buddy to boot! Keep her interest up...you won't regret it. Mine started riding much later but we have a great time together. Flatlander Prairieslider

Yup,
Same thing happened to me in Coal Creek Mining a few months back. My machine tumbled down a hill, flipping 4 times before hitting a tree and stopping suddenly. Had to beat one wheel out to true it, and the clunking in low going downhill. Adjusted the linkage and it was fine. It was a great relief. Pretty tough machine. The last roll it was upside down and about 4 feet in the air, before it stopped. If
it didn't hit a tree, it would have been gone. Simple adjust, thanks Nyroc for the great info!

Prairieslider, my daughter likes to ride, but she is very reserved about the areas we can go!! "That's too steep dad!!", "That's too muddy, we're gonna get stuck!", "Quit gassin it so hard, you're getting mud on me!!".
I need a set of quads for the entire tribe, but who has the $$$$ to buy 4 quads? I don't take my son anymore cause between the 2 of us, we top out around 500 lbs. (I'm just under 300 lbs and he is just under 200 lbs.) BIG-boned family!!! A little too much for the suspension. Like I said, I'd love to get at least one more quad, but I got no more money!!! Maybe once the wife finishes school and starts working, we can get another toy.
