After you get the bike apart.....
Look at the cam gears. The exhaust is towards the front of the bike. The gear will have a "0" on each one. Put the "0" on the exhaust at 9 O'clock and the intake at 3 o'clock.
The clearance is .008-.010 for all valves, adjusted on a cold engine. Put the feeler between the valve adjuster and the valve, not between the cam and follower.
I have the same pipe. It really helped with the power but is waaaaayyy to loud for my liking. I'm down to 5 discs (started w/8) and no power loss yet.
I didn't have to rejet but my bike is a Ca model which has a different carb from yours. YMMV.
