I would like to know if you can use the stock type grips that came with the praire 650 or would they not hold up?

i got them thru dennis kirk. the stock grips would hold up without any problems if you can get them off without destroying them as they are glued on very well. now i just need to figure out how to install my thumb warmer. it has bulky wires coming out of it and i am worried about them causing my throttle to stick. that could be very dangerous. i was unable to find a piece of shrink tube that will fit over the thumb throttle.

No problem to get the stock grips off, if you have an air compressor. Just pop the plug out of one of the grips. Then install the line from the compressor, w/ the air blower attachment, into the hole in the end of the grip. Make sure you have a good seal. The grip on the other side should pop loose and be able to be pulled off w/out any problem. Insert the blower attachment on the side you just popped the grip off and you can pop the other grip off as well. Just make sure you put the plug back in the grip, otherwise the air will just blow through the handlebars. Anyhow, this worked for me when I installed my grip warmers.

As info, you can also get Kimpex grip warmers from RockMountainATV. That is where I got mine and they were only $20. I am on my second winter season w/ them and so far, so good.
