02' P650 Strange Noise
I have a 02 P650 with only 105 hours on it. The belt was starting to squeal so I removed the last shim and put it all back together. The next time I rode it, it was making a terrible noise on deceleration. I'm sure the noise is coming from the drive train. When there is a load on the drive train like when accelerating or climbing a hill there is no noise and everything works fine. When on flat ground or going down a hill it makes a terrible grinding, clattering noise. I'm sure I put everything back together correctly after removing the last shim. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks allot for any help and hope everyone has a great New Year!

02' P650 Strange Noise
Mine did the same thing. Next time you ride leave it in low gear and push the shifter forward as far as it will go. If this stops the noise it is more than likely that your shifter is out of adjustment. Adjust just a little, ( it doesn't take much ) and check it out. Play with it until you get it right. You will know if you go to far either way because the neutral light will be out of sinc. I also had a 300 Prairie do the same thing and the local dealer could not figure it out. The only differance is it made a lot more noise. Sounds kind of strange I know, but I also read in another forum where 650 owners were having the same problem with the same sollution. Good luck and let us know what you figure out.
