Default KVF 360 belt light on

I was plowing snow w/ my kvf 360 and the belt light came on. does this mean the belt needs replaced or just tightened?? does the light reset itself or is this a dealer only thing??

thanks

Sounds like your belt switch got triped..... most likely you will need another belt, and you have to do the belt light reset procedure...... it will not turn off till you get it fixed. Oh by the way it's really easy!!!!!! 70.00-80.00 for a belt us $$

Doesn't the 360 automatically turn the belt light on after so many hours of service? Like a 100 hours? Check your owners manual I could be wrong, but I seem to remember reading that somewhere.

The light on the 360 comes on after 100 hours automatically. The procedure to reset the light isn't listed in any repair manual except the dealers book. I have a shop manual for everything I ride and some of my friends rides. If you have a friendly dealer he will make a copy of the page for you. I don't have the page handy so I can't tell you haw but it only involves a couple wires that are unplugged and reversed. I wouldn't try to guess tho, you may short something. Good luck.

page 16-47 of service manual. This is how to reset light. If you think belt is damaged, take off cover and look. (1) turn off ignition switch (2) disconnect belt switch 2 pin connector above torque convertor cover (3) disconnect both sets of 5 pin connectors which are above torque converter cover (4) reconnect these 5 pin connectors to their opposite gray to black and black to gray (5) turn on ignition switch and look at belt warning light. it should be flashing at 0.4 second interval. let it flash for seven seconds. while looking at belt warning light, turn off ignition switch. belt light should flash 3 times. this means memory is clearing. (6) disconnect mismatched 5 pin connector sets and connect them back the way they were. (7) connect belt switch 2 pin connector. This is the only thing I have done to mine. I ride on the old strip mines in WV. It goes anywhere everything else goes. Book is $40.00 at dealer. Good luck. lively

Thanks to everyone that helped me out, i appreciate it. In my defense I was going to get a book but the only Kawasaki dealer in my area was closed for a week. I did call another dealer(out of state) and they said to disconnect the negative terminal for 15 minutes and the problem would go away. No such luck.
Thanks again
