Man I love this thing! I went riding on some firebreaks here around my house, and I'm really impressed on the way it climbs! I can tell, though, that I'm going to need some more power for the steeper hills. As it was, it was climbing stuff that was really steep, I REALLY had to hold on! This is my first 4WD quad, so I am having to get used to the heavy steering. I guess you guys are right, the stock tires are already showing wear, only 28 miles on them.

Yeah, I rode there X-mas weekend. It looks like there is a place to ride on the north side of the 10 fwy, east of the 111. I have seen bikes and quads out there, and there seem to be a lot of trails. I haven't ridden there, yet, but I plan to go this year. Have you ridden at Ocatilla Wells, yet? That's an awesome place! You have some nice places to ride up in Running Springs, don't you? How did the fire affect you up there?

I still haven't ridden Ocotillo Wells, but it's on my list. I was just wanting some nice areas that were real close. Heading out into the desert areas lets me push the throttle to the stop on the Prairie. The mountains have too many trees and cliffs in the way. When I rode down there yesterday, we were doing a sandy hill climb. I had no idea the Prairie could climb hills the way it does.
Running Springs is cold has heck right now. The trail riding is nice. The creek crossings are fun because you get to see how far you can go on the frozen surface. I enjoy rock crawling on the Jeep trails, but normally ride my Sportsman for the super-technical stuff.

The IRS on the Sportsman borders on plush. Someone on this forum once called it "riding in a bowl of Jell-O." Their seat is also the most comfy I've ever sat on. The Polaris has a more upright riding position. I do a lot of slow speed rock crawling on Jeep trails, so that's really what the Sportsman is for.
If you want comfort, consider the new Polaris 700 EFI. Having fuel injection totally eliminates jetting issues. Their new EFI has sensors that adjust for altitude and temperature changes. I want to do the Paiute Trail, and I've heard there are some 13,000 foot passes. Having fuel injection would be nice.
