I inspected mine last night and found they were tight and had locktight on them, and some paint to tell if they had been tampered with (I guess).
SOund like yours were a factory mistake. And that's what I would be hitting the dealer with.

A trick I learned several years ago is the use of fingernail polish " dots ". After checking for tightness, put a drop of polish on the bolt head or nut and right next to it, put a drop on the frame or bracket. As part of your pre-ride inspection, look at your two " dots " If they dont line up, then you know the bolt has become loose. This also saves time by not having to put a wrench on it to check for tightness before each ride.

Default Prairie700~~~Defect??P700 Owner's Read! and Check!

Gidday, the same thing happened to my KVM 700 04' the first weekend I had it. It was only three days old. We were on a weekend trip and it only had 400kms on it. I was going about 60-70km/hour when it happened. This happened back it September and It took three months to get an answer out of Kawasaki that they would not cover the bike. I have decided to get a lawyer as I am unable to get any answers from my dealership or Kawasaki. I have tried to contact Kawasaki on the incident but have only been able to talk to customer service. When I finally got the number from my dealership of the technician that handled the case from Kawasaki he would not return my calls. Between the dealership and Kawasaki I am very disappointed with the way I have been treated. The decision to not cover my bike was decided by pictures sent to Kawasaki, and the decision was just a phone call. After letters and countless phone calls I got nowhere. If I have any additional luck or here anything I will post it

Marylandatv, sorry to hear about your get-off, hope your O.K.. I'm curious as to what modifications had been done to the machine previous to the unfortunate incident? The reason I ask is that I have an "04" 700P with 27" Mudlights on "C" series ITP wheels. I've always wondered as to what kind of additional stress I was creating with the additional offset and combined overall width of this combo. When you say that the bolt in the rear of the A-frame was broken or missing which do you think it was? Were there any remnants of the bolt left in the retained nut? Did the A-frame buckle under the stress of having only one bolt holding the upper A-frame? Were there any modifications done to the spring package? I apologize for all the questions, any insight that you have on this incident is appreciated. Thanks....

Ive done only a few mods on the Prairie, But I dont think they had anything to do with adding additional stress to these Parts. Im no engineer but The a-arms, shocks and the whole lay out of the front end seem to be build right and is very strong. 4x4 get put through Hell and Back and I think most Manufacturers know that and build them to hold up! No Matter what size wheels you run! I run 25" Big Horns most of the time. Ive run 26" Mud lites before but didnt care for them to much. Ive never run a 27" tires, because I ride for speed more then mud and whatever it is you guys do that like the BIG tires!~lol. For me changing the clutch spring is for quickness more so than to compensate for the larger tires. If your going to run that big of tire those you will wanna do a cutch upgrade. What it looks like on my Quad is a factory screw up! Friday Afternoon gotta get home for the weekend build?~lol I beleave because of the missing bolt, threads being fine and not stripped out no sign of lock tight etc. that the bolt just came loose and fell out, causing the front of the arm to snap and then the carnage that followed~lol. So DBL check them Bolts and keep enjoying that 700!! Now If Kawasaki doesnt help me out??~lol~ I might have other words for the Prairie?~LOL~Well?? maybe I wont?? there is not a BETTER 4x4 built for my kind of riding!! \

Maryland ATV, I would think that kind of stuff should be check by the dealership before they leave their yards but sometime they will omit to do lots of stuff hopping to see you back on the Warranty. Had the same type of problem that happen to me with my Honda Rubicon 2001, Honda had instruct their mecanic's to perform a few routine check up and adjustment prior to let the Rubicon leaving their yards, it's wasn't done on mine... After 20 miles of breaking milleage, I didn't had a tranny anymore. Burned some sensor and lost something underneat and the front end went all loose. I hed to get towed home on my very first run??? After almostrunning into an accident in a big hill, Honda admited theirs problem and confirmed that they had instruct the mecanics but found out that the dealership was refusing their mecanics to perform the adjustment hoping to see me back under the warranty or not.

They were force by Honda co. to give me a brand new ATV, fully adjust this time after several complaint and refusing to wait a month without a quad.

Good luck and it suck that you had that kind of problem because P700 seem to be a very good machine...
