Mojave carb question
Hi all I have been lurking on this site for over a year an decided my new years resolution would be to join up LOL. I have been reading up in the archives about mojave mods and noticed that the 400ex carb is a popular mod due to the accell pump and I was woundering of the edelbrok(?spelling) carb that is very popular for the ex would be a good addition to the mojave?, I figure if the ex carb is a good addon for the mojave than possibly the edelbrok carb might be even better (or is it that the reason for the ex carb is the accell pump and the edelbrok dosent have this feature).
thanks

Mojave carb question
the early edlebrocks did not have a pump but the newer ones do. Most of the ones you see have the pump. The problem is that most of them are too large to run well on the mojave. The 400ex carb is only 35.5 mm, just 1.5 mm larger than the mojave so it works well all through the power band. A 38 or 40 mm carb will kill your bottom and mid power while only adding to the top. Idle and throttle responce will not be as good. Edlebrock had plans to make a smaller (36 mm I think it was) for the 300ex but back when I was considering it they keep delaying it's introduction. I don't know if they ever made the 36 or not but if they did it would be a good carb for the mojave. I have ran a 38PE and a VM36 Mikuni on mojaves but I like the 400ex carb better. I plan to try a 38mm lectron on my new motor but it is very highly modded and for race only.

Mojave carb question
Thanks Mojaveaddict thats exactily what I was woundering. I figured the edlebrock carb might be good for the mojave for its ease of adjustment and what not, but I didnt think about the size of it compared to the ex carb(figured it was the same size) .
