Default Quiet performance exhaust for P650?

What I did was Nyroc's mod, and saved the tip and packing. I then welded that into a 2" OD pipe. When I want it quiet, I slide this pipe into the muffler tailpipe, and secure with a couple of screws. When I want it loud and the extra power, I pop out the screws and pull out my new "tip".[/quote]

I wish I would not have cut my arrestor in two, that sounds like a great idea.

Doesn't that disable the spark arrestor? They check for those things, out here!

As soon as you drill out the muffler, you've basically disabled the arrestor. The tip has no spark arresting ability. It just reduces the opening from 2" to 1", adds some packing to take the edge off the noise.

I'm kind of curious to hear a Kawi Vtwin and the Cat Vtwin side by side.

In stock form, the Cat has nasty airbox restriction (it's actually jetted 21% leaner than a P650 to prove it!)

I'm wondering those people who say the Nyroc mod is only a bit louder, have a louder stock system (because the Prairie is more free flowing from the factory).

I found from stock on the cat, to opening up the intake and exhaust, it became MUCH louder than stock. Traditionally, cat's have been tagged as more work horses, and less fun machines, so this might make sense why it was quieter from the factory.

Sooo..... If you have a Prairie, it might not be 50% louder with the 1" tip out. You can still do it though. Just use a hole saw, cut out the tip, and weld it into a 2" pipe. You don't need the packing and mesh material. It makes the sound more "mellow" but if you noticed how little of the material there was, it isn't that necessary.
