whats the differance?

Default whats the differance?

Can some one tell me the differance between the hole shot / unlimiter modual and ignition modual?? Also has the unlimter came out yet??? thanx

The HOleshot is and Ignition Module that fools the CDI into thinking the quad is moving faster than it actually is. The benifit is that the CDI skipes the retard timing curve that it would normally begin in and take the bike straight into the normal timing. This allows the bike to accelorate harder from a standstill or a very slow roll (under 3mph). It doesn't sound like a huge gain but it's well worth the money for the fun factor alone.

The Unlimiter is a product that DG racing is working on. It's supposed to pick up where the Holeshot leaves off. From what i've read It will remap the normal timing curve and somehow electronically add timing. It will be designed to work in conjunction with the Holeshot. It is still in the R&D/testing phase. There seems to be many problems with getting it just right. I'm not sure that there is a way to "electronically" add timing. But if there is a will there is normally a way. The soonest it will be out is summer according to the last thread i read were someone actually spoke to Diamond G racing. They are having severeal unexpected probelms, or the module just doesn't perform when they think they have it right.

The other modules currently made (reds650/Kuntes, Nabor, Freedom, and DG Holeshot) all work exactly the same. They are all Frequency Modulators and hooked to the same bike will give the same results. Highlifter Prodcuts currently has a Module in there hands and as I type this the Electical Engineer they have is look into an idea he had to make the thing perform better than it is. They (HL) already claim the module in the configuration they have now is unlike any of the others on the market giving gains throughout the powerband (5hp on bottom, 3.5 midrange, and 1.5 top end). Several people have said this is either totally false or it is just another Frequency Modulator but they have not seen/tested the product yet. I have one ordered and will let the boards know what I think when i get it installed. Even if it is another Frequency Modulator i won't be terribely dissappointed. May be awhile, the weather is suckin here [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif[/img]

What most people want is a completly new Ignition system (CDI), with either a much more aggresive timing map or fully programable map. These seem to be a ways in the future. MSD was working on one but last rumor i heard was that they pulled the project. It was a either the complexity of the system on the prairie or they felt the market was to small for the amount of R&D money they were going to have to put into it. I think the relatively small market and R&D money is the biggest reason a project like this would be pulled by MSD. If they can make new systems for Corvettes and Mustangs, no way the prairie is more complex than that!!

Remember i didn't say MSD canceled the project. Just a rumor i read on the internet that sounds plausible to me.
