pull start no-go

Default pull start no-go

i have a bayou and i use the electric start fine but the back up isnt a back up!!! the pull start never works for me [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif[/img] so when i need it.. it poops lol... for some reason no how hard i pull.. even gettin my dad to pull for me.. and hes a big guy i might add it just chuckles and putters.. no crank even i just hear the exhaust caughing up a laff.. sigh why wont it work? we practicly rip the hell outta it and no go.. i press electric start ONCE and it starts immdedietly .. i dont even hold it any ideas? oh btw.. is there a way to get reid of the pull start and make a backup kick start? that would rock

do you have a decompression switch?

well duh.. if u dont pull it u rip ur arm out of ur socket lol

try switching the spark plug? Don't know odds are you are flooding the machine when you pull start it.

brand new plug.. like i said the electric start works.. but what if i actually need to use the pull start? i thought things are supposed to work.. sigh

Its something that can be hard to do. Usually you have to pull the cord, slowly out, until you feel a compression stoke coming on, then let the cord recoil in, (so you have the maximum amount of cord to pull). Then, slowly pull again, until you feel the resistance... Then pull firmly. I pull start a honda 450, dead cold, and it starts on second try.

try pull starting it even if it's a auto it still will pull start...3rd gear[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif[/img]
