Default Wow what a difference!!!!

I wrote a while back that my P700 was really hard to steer. I was told to switch to synthetic oil in the front diffy and to re-set my toe-in to 0 degrees.
Yesterday I did the toe-in and holy ****. The left tire was toe'd in 3/8 in and the right was toe'd in 1 1/8 inch! Doing the job was not difficult except trying to tighten everthing up without changing the toe-in.
I jumped on the bike and took it for a spin and what a huge improvement! At speeds it is a little squirely but I can deal with that.

I can't believe they (factory or dealership) would ship or sell a product that far out of alignment. H3ll this was visibly noticeable (once I started looking for it). Either way I am much happier about the ride now.......thanks to all who gave advice!

Me being new and not owning a bike yet, what method did you use to align your bike and was it hard to do, for future reference.

I set it as close to 0 degrees as I could. Trying to tighten everything down it wants to move a little.
I may check it again because I was thinking I may not have had the handlebars centered exactly. With
the fronts being that different in measurement I will feel better if I check it again. This time I will measure from each grip on the bars to a common point on the rear rack.

I may find that I want a little toe-in after all (like 1/8 in or so) if it stays squirrely at speed.
I used four wide car tires and rims (layed on side) to tie the string to. This put the string at about the right height and was rock soild.

DaRiot, my Bomb was out 1.125" from the factory also!! I only have 300 miles on it, and nothing was bent!!!

If you run a bit of tow out, it will be more stable in the high speed turns. If you want it more stable in the straights you have to adjust castor. Can't do that on mine, don't know about the P700, doubt it though.

Dariot, when I set my toe-in, I jacked up the front end of my quad, removed my front tires, and then lowered my quad down with a jackstand under each front a-arm so my quad was sitting level. I clamped a 3 foot long piece of 1" aluminum angle iron to each front rotor with them sticking straight out in front of my quad (I used a level to keep them straight). I bungee corded my front brake lever to keep the angle irons in place and did all my measurements between the 2 angle irons. Worked like a charm. I set my toe-in to 1/16 and haven't had any trouble since.
