Tire options on V Force?

MSU... I'm a big guy myself, so I'm not going to say anything about your weight, but our quads will probably run 4-5 mph faster top end with a 180 lb guy on them, rather than us "big guy's "... so if your nephew is smaller, you're already a a slight disadvantage...

lol yeah, he weights about 180 and he doesn't nearly block as much sun as i do, let alone wind resistance... he's only 5'11" and i'm 6'4". I do miss the all out blasting of that quadzilla when were at the dunes about 10% of my riding, but for trail riding, and around the home riding *90% of my time riding*... I can't beat my V force.
I was just toying with the idea of the bigger tires.. in theory; i'm sure it will work and i'm sure i'll never get as fast as that quadzilla or DS 650.
I'll look into that dalton clutch plate...

I’m pretty sure my V-Force (stock) goes faster than 63mph. I was 2nd in line on my V-Force in a group of three ATVs going down a major secondary road in between Hatfield McCoy trail systems and the lead rider (because he had a speedometer so he could “watch” our speed) on a Prairie 650 decided to “nail” it. Well when he did that I just couldn’t resist so I punched the throttle and got right on his rear, then moved over to pass and pulled away pretty quickly. He later told me that when I passed him his speedo was reading 65. From that I would have guessed I was doing at least 70, maybe a little more. Oh, and I’m 6’2” / 220 lbs. The V-Force is a nice trail quad but I don’t think you will be able set it up so that it will outrun a 500cc 2 stroke powered quad as the V-Force is lacking in the power to weight ratio match-up with it…

I know i'll never be able to compete with my old quadzilla, it's one of the fastest ones out at the dunes unless they run nitrous or are set up strickly for sand drags.. but i want to not look so bad when we do drag. Everyone wanted to race me last year because i had the new V force; i kept blowing people away at the start and then i wouldn't run it the whole 1/4 mile because it was pretty new... about 1-2 hours on it; but since then i've ran it against my old quadzilla and i get smoked..
yours is faster then 63? you must of gotten the super duper V force... Mine definately isn't faster then 65 MPH... at top speed, my brothers cannondale speed, nephews quadzilla, and brothers 250 quadracer all beat me top end. Now i am carrying extra weight, but i wonder how can a magazine who's doing a shootout be that wrong? i wonder...

I’m sure my V-Force is no different than any other and quad speedos (ref the Prairie 650 in my previous posting) are notorious for being “inaccurate”, however I definitely had a speed advantage over him and I’ve heard in other “tests” that Prairie 650s top out at around 65mph. I didn’t read the magazine article but do you suppose the quads they used during testing were broken in completely and was the top speed run made on level pavement (like our speed run was)? Both my V-Force and especially the P650 were well broken in at that time. One thing for sure though, punching the throttle at 60+ mph speeds does not give you neck snapping acceleration, but I had no trouble walking away from the P650. There was a Rubicon following too but it was about ½ mile back as it only tops out at around 55.
As far as putting larger diameter tires go, you’d have to experiment (unless someone here has first hand knowledge), but the V in stock form may not have enough power to the wheels at upper engine RPMs to turn them at full speed (my Grizzly loses top speed when putting larger tires on). Know anybody with a P650 / 700? I’ve heard that the rear wheels are interchangeable between the V-Force and the Prairies so that would be a cheap way to try a larger set of tires…

Vforcer,
What size tires are on a stock Prarie that you experimented with?
I was thinking of going from 22-11-10 to 24-11-10's... That is only about 1" farther out, and it looked like i should of plenty of room when i looked today at my V; but i'm not sure how much the tires would donut at high speeds as talked about.
Thanks
