after 6500 is what you need the key for you have 28 till 6500 then it backs off to 20 at 8200 so with the 6deg key it only backs off to 26deg
kawi says the 650 timing should be 32deg so that's the best we can do

check out my dyno in my pictures

Yes, I now understand the off-set key will help me after 6500 rpm. But, Mr.Mike penland told me that with the new HL module, we won't need the off-set key anymore. That is what I have a hard time to see after looking at the dyno sheet of the High Lifters ICM Power Pak on there site. By the way, nice dyno sheet! Is it the off-set key that gave you that extra continuing power between 5000 rpm and 6500 rpm?

cartman308, The stock rev limiter is set at 8500 RPM. The Prairie 700 runs at 68 MPH at close to 7600 RPM. How many Prairie's have you seen rev 8500 RPM, stock or otherwise?

the reason the 650-700 will not pull top end is cam and ignition timing
If you 700 is running 68mph@7600rpm
1-does your tack read right?
2-does your speedo read right?
3-do you have stock gearing?

Check the gear ratio in the book 68 is 8200

take off the rev limit and you will gain top end..........change ignition timing, cam timing and anything else and you only get there faster............at least that's what i've always been told/came to the conclusion of.

I calculate 68MPH = 7940RPM, but I may have done it with the wrong ratios. The 68MPH is indicated, so it may be 65 or so? I haven't seen anyone "hit" the rev limiter at 8500 RPM before on a stock machine, or at least with the stock timed cams.

Mike Penland is not a road rider , he races , if you ride trails you will never need power over 6500 RPM , you want all low to mid power ,top end means nothing. You make a praire run 100 MPH but if you don't give it the power in the low RPM's in the world of real ATVing you will be left behind.
