Default 250cc moto class?

I've read about alot of fan fare lately or Suzuki's RM250F and Kawasaki's KX250F and that they may be cross built with ATVs. I remember when 250cc's were the standard of the day at the track; read 250R , Tecate, Quadracer250. What I'd like to hear from my 4- wheeling bretheren is, is there really a chance of a 250 class now that we've tasted the top of the line performance of the baddest 450 out there? Thanks for you alls input............

Those are both 4 stroke engines designed to run in the 125cc 2 stroke Moto-cross (bike) classes.
