I JUST WOULD LIKE TO SAY THAT YEA THESE NEW 4-STROKES ARE NICE WITH ALL THE MODERN PARTS BUT NOTHING COMPARES TO A POWER VALVED 2-STROKE.......ALOT OF PEOPLE THINK THE 250R WAS THE FASTEST 250..BUT THAT WAS NOT THE CASE..I BELIVE IT WAS MAY ISSUE OF DIRT WHEELS 1987 THAT RAN THE TEST BETWEEN THE LT500,LT250,KXF250 "TECATE" AND THE TRX250R...AND CLEARLY THE LT500 WAS THE FASTEST BUT AS FAR AS THE 250'S WENT IT WAS TECATE 1ST, 250R 2ND, AND THE LT250 3RD AS A MATTER OF FACT THE TECATE AND THE TRX BOTH BEAT THE BANSHEE WITCH WAS ALSO TESTED THAT DAY.....

 

CLassic example of bad information. The Tecate 4 was indeed the fastest of the 250's....but in no magazine test was the T-4 faster than the Banshee. Even in the infamous drag strip issue it was slower than the Banshee witch (lol) was also tested that day.

 

By the way...the T-4 was SWEET. It's the only "older" sport atv that could be introduced today and look modern.

 

GARY...WHEN I FIRST BOUGHT MY 88' IT HAD JUST BEEN COMPLETELY REBUILDT MOTOR,TRANNY,EVERY THING..BACK TO STOCK FORM...MY BUDDY ANDREW HAS A 97' BANSHEE WITH TOOMEY PIPES AND I COULD PULL HIM BY ABOUT 2.5 LENGHTS AND NOW AFTER ALL MY MODS ITS MORE LIKE 10

 

I have that dirtwheels issue. The T-4 was rated the fastest. However it had the worst handling of the three.

 

I believe you about being quicker than your buddy....but there are way too many variables when comparing used atv's...especially when modified for POTENTIALLY more power. The T-4 was the only sport atv that I never owned...rode one and even dragged several years back though..[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img]. Of the 3 250's. They re-ran that issue a year or so ago.

 

I am sure you guys understand that the 250R being the most popular raced quad and copied geometry (frame) had little if anything to do with its stock speed, and everything to do with how well it handled and responded to mods etc.

That 500 zilla was a killer in the straight line though wasnt it.

 

I cant remember who has it in there signature, but it will let you know why the 250R was/is the benchmark.
