<DIV class=postcolor>Some misconceptions I have read hope this will help. I to have had a test cdi to punish with respect adverse weather conditions mostly performance modds. Any of you who now me I have exceeded the less than one percent of performance junkys. I can tell you this is the whole package especially for the major portion of people who want to annihilate their buddys. More timing, more top end, a solid timing curve right to rpm limit, what can a person ask for it is all there.

The first test units had a different timing curve but through testing we managed to improve on the curve and yes drop the limit it was around 10,000 rpm. 99% of all of the users will not get above 8500 rpm because cam timing, exhaust, there is a list of limitations keeping the quad at a lower rpm mostly cams are the big restrictor. People who have the big bore kit will be able to bounce off the limiter, at 9200 rpm it will be exhilarating to say the least. With my modds I can reach 11,500 in 300 feet with a custom ignition and custom modds. I have said many times on this forum and others that I will never go back to a OEM cdi the benefits outway the restrictions posed on the OEM system.

Here are some of the benefits.
1) Cooling factor the motor runs cooler I clocked 200* cooler at 2 inches from the head which is dramatic.

2) Starts easier, the cdi doesn't have to read 3 crank rotations plus other inputs to produce a spark it is instantaneous at least much faster than the OEM.

3) Updated timing curve not quite high performance standard but a quicker ramp than the OEM. Will it wheelie, you bet ask SgtRock. A proper ramp will always work better than a full assault of timing in respect to a module plus key. Even though the module produces 28* it is not instantaneous. Most people think it is right off 1100 rpm the module produces the extra timing this is not so. It takes almost 2 seconds for the cdi to discover (through all its programing) it should change the map. By this time the new cdi has surpassed 28* still climbing to 33* where it will stay till the rev limiter.

4) The new cdi will have full timing right to the top where the old cdi drops timing at 6500 rpm to 20* at 8200. This can produce over heating with that much timing drop. I have found with racing machines it is good to have some timing drop after 8500 rpm but not before and especially not by 8*.

5) No reverse limiter; I do a lot of mud running and that annoying having to hold down the reverse button to go backwards is a pain. Just make sure you let people know about the no button for full reverse LOL.

6) NO more having to worry about the belt reminder limp mode when you reach the 100 hour mark. I have so many times tripped the switch on my machine because of the power going through the bike the belt would deflect so bad on deceleration it would trip the switch, in the middle of a race what a pain.

7) The BEC system will still work because there is speed sensor wire going to the unit and is independent of the cdi.

8) New cdi does not read the speed sensor input so any installation of a hole shot module will not affect the new cdi. Besides why would you want to hamper the top timing limit doesn't make any sense.

9) Most important advantage: IT IS A PLUG AND PLAY SYSTEM!! Don't have to cut wires for holeshot, don't have to install a key. A whole package by just plugging it in!!!!!!!!!

I wonder if HL has had some cancellations of their Power Pac module?????</DIV>

This is for the Prairie 650/700 testing to begin on V Force very soon. The basic difference from the P to the V will be a higher rev limit with same timing curve but that will have to be worked out with testing. An ingenious fellow can adapt a V cdi to a P with a little work.

Looks like I'm just gonna have to get me a new CDI in the spring. Can't wait for mud season to come around again.
