Default carb ?? on vforce

hey guys. i was getting some backfiring out of the tailpipe. so i adjusted the air/fuel screws out 3 turns. i rode it up and down the road a few times and it doesnt seem to be backfiring anymore. now i am worried about it running to lean. it seems to be running fine. if it is not backfiring out of the tailpipe or carbs than i should be ok, right?? it still will not idle when its cold unless i give it a little throttle until the engine warms up. it will stay running if i turn that idle screw clockwise about 1 1/2 turns. will this be ok. it just sounds like it is idling a little high. sorry so many questions, i get real worried about every little noise i hear on this thing. i guess i will get over it when the NEW wears off.

Do a sparkplug test to see if you are lean or rich that is the final test.

ck. your plugs and then you'll know for sure. tan okay black is rich, white or grey is lean. the air screw only ajusts the air fuel mixture at idle. you either alow more air in or stop air from going in your carbs. you want it to idle as fast and as smooth as you can make it with the air screw. if then it idles to fast turn it down with the IDLE SCREW.

ok, i checked the plugs and they where black. so i turned the air screws in. they are now set out two turns. also when you said to get it to idle as fast and smooth as possible, then adjust it with the idle screw. where should i set the idle screw?? all the way clockwise?? thanks again

just turn till it idle right for higher and left for lower where you want it. make sure you can shift in and out of gear. if idle is to high it won't shiff into reverse and forward correctly.
