i no that i can start it with the pull start i want to no of a way to start it with the electric start and have it in gear

 

With the modification described above (jumping the black wires in the designated connector), it WILL start electrically in any gear! In fact, that's the very purpose of the modification.

ok i figured it out and got it to work and its the little round relay that does it. now my dad is saying that it will be hard on the transmission if i do this it this true i dont think it is but i want him to no this

Starting the engine in gear will harm nothing; however, if you do not shift to a sufficiently low gear when setting the quad into motion, you could strain the centrifugal clutch, perhaps shortening its service life.

The reason merely starting the engine in gear does no harm: At low rpm's, the transmission is physically disconnected from the driveshaft (the shoes on the centrifugal clutch do not engage the drum). The rpm's must be high enough to engage the centrifugal clutch before the transmission picks up any load.

The main reason most factory quads are wired to start only in neutral, I think, is a safety feature--the design prevents a quad in gear from starting and potentially running over something or running away; possibilities if the throttle is open and the rider less than alert.

This "Safety Feature" can cause lots of grief; for example, when the quad stalls on a hillclimb; finding neutral can be a real pain when struggling to keep the quad from rolling back down the hill.

If you rig your ATV to start in any gear, be aware of that fact and inform all other riders of the situation and its consequences.
