Default 650 Prairie guys.... I have a question

Have any of you had a low oil pressure problem?

I purchased a 650 Arctic Cat two weeks ago; there is 2hrs on the meter (1.5 miles). I only got to put the .5 on the bike in my front yard. Now I have a confirmed low oil pressure problem. As you know, Arctic Cat uses the Kawasaki 650 in their bikes.

Has any one heard of a problem like this, and what did Kawasaki do for you?

Thanks....

TheSorb
Thanks for the input.. As far as the Wondering, I got a new bike, so now I can wander. Well, as soon as my bike is back... So I guess you can say wonderer again...

There is a long story about my handle; maybe on a long ride I will let you in on it...

Thanks again...

Default 650 Prairie guys.... I have a question

The only problems I've heard of have been "northern", mostly Canadian units... I don't think it has as much to do with being from Canada, I think it's cold weather related.... I'd bet, unless the pump has been damaged, that your oil is too thick... everyone with this problem, that I've been aware of, has solved this by running thinnner oil during the winter... ( I think the pump is cavitating, when the oil is thick & cold )... how have you confirmed that it has a low oil pressure problem ??? If thinner oil doesn't fix the problem, have the pump looked at...

2 hours 1.5 miles isn't that alot of idleing? I don't let mine idle that long. Does AC put a different oil for break in? No problems with kawi. could be a bad sensor.

My Prairie has been as solid as they come. No engine non-sense at all. A few issues with the CVT, but that's a given on these things. Did you buy it new? If I had compression problems, or any mechanical engine problems with mine, I'd have it back at the dealer fast enough to make his head rotate. Call your dealer and tell him you want it fixed YESTERDAY. Sorry you haven't had good luck, get to the bottom of the problem and get it repaired, and it'll be an incredible engine for you.

I have an 02 650 in boxes in my garage right now.3000km and the crank is shot.I got unsatisfactory answers out of Kawi. They claimed contamination of the oil.(bike dunked) It has been in too deep a couple of times, but I was always **** about checking the oil for water.Never ever saw it on the dipstick.I always changed it often , and right from new I thought I could feel very fine grit in the oil when I changed it, I just convinced myself that it had to be dirt I already had on my hands or something. Now I don't know for sure.

I have been on this forum since the 650's came out and never noticed anyone claiming any oil probs, though.I would like to think that the probs I'm having aren't my fault, but even I'm not sure.

WoW! I never heard of a oil problem before. Kingmort I have 20,000km om my 650 and no crank problems. I had issues on the top end (rings) but never bottom. Are you running the Kawi oil? Do you have the extended warrenty? What dealer are you dealing with? There's a place in Burnside that will run a test on you used oil that will tell you answers real fast. I had my oil pump go at 19000km....
