Default Maybe there is a Santa Clause, Virginia!

Hit me like a ton of bricks at lunch today
Add em up
Black EPI Spring=Noticable Improvement
Muffler Mod = Nothing
Twin Air and airbox slide = Nothing
Dial A Jet = Nothing
Flywheel Key = Nothing
High Test Gas = Nothing
Had bike at dealer at 10 hours--not sure if they did anything
Noticed oil was extremely dirty at 50 hours. Changed it 4 days ago
Noticed last night that oil is again extremely dirty after minimal riding
Read in a thread a few months back that 360P was notorious for valve adjustment

MAKE ANY SENSE?????
Maybe my valves are whacked out of adjustment??
My dealer is so busy it tok 3 weeks to get my winch installed---maybe they didnt check valves!!!
Would blow back from non adjusted valves make for dirty oil??
Stay Tuned

having the valves adjusted properly will help alot, & may bring new life to that flywheel key as well ??? Good Luck...

I do not think mal-adjusted valves would make the oil dirty. Bad exhuast valve guide would do that. Scuffed piston would do it too. You don't want to talk about stuff like that, I bet. My friends griz always had dirty oil. I always told him it was piston clearance. His piston eventually siezed a ring from running hot.

The oil could be dirty from too much gas and making soot. Too much gas reduces power too.

The first thing that happens if the valves are tight is you can't idle for beans, but higher RPMs still work ok. Valves can burn if they are tight.

If they are loose the valve stems, keepers, tips, rockers, guides, and cam wear faster. It just causes a minor loss of power. Your valves could be really loose, but that doesn't explain the soot.

Another thing, if the oil was really dirty for some reason, just changing it once may still show dirty oil just from what was left in the crankcase. I hope your oil wasn't that dirty.

I hope you get to the bottom of your power loss. I hope everyone hails you as the owner of the fastest prairie 360.

Thanx for the vote of confidence NYROC--I will definitely do whatever it takes--I love taking things apart.

I wouldnt say My bike has any loss of power, I just want to pull stronger on long uphills(like when riding roads to get to trailheads) I was on my ride for about 2 hours this evening and it is running great. Up my driveway(1000' with a steep uphill at end) my previous top speed was between 28 and 29 mph, this evening I did a solid 30mph. On a flat to slight downhill slope I was able to reach 47mph. My lowend speed and torque is more than adequate. My oil may not be as bad as I have you believing. I changed it saturday with 56 total hours on motor and it struck me that oil was dark on dipstick. Only have about 3 hours on new oil when I pulled side cover off last night to do flywheel and thought that oil should have still been clear, but it was not---It wasnt real bad, just thought it would have looked a little clearer. I have to pull my tank off to adjust my idle jet(screw is so close to head that none of my three flex screwdrivers can get to it--have to loosen carb and turn sideways to adjust screw--and also to adjust the dial a jet. Will do this Sat. and open idle jet another half turn and also see if DAJ adjustments make a difference in performance. I pulled plug tonight after a full throttle run and I am not running lean. Still seems like I am bottlenecking somewhere. I dont want to go any faster---I would just like to pull hills a little faster than 30mph. Sounds like a cam retard is in my future. I will also check my valve clearance this weekend or it will make me crazy thinking about it if i dont.
