Is there another type of oil filter that will work on a P650 besides the Kawasaki brand oil filter? Fram oil filter maybe? and if there is does anybody have the stock #.

 

A motorcycle enthusiast posted these numbers. These all have the same threads and o-ring. They fit the 650 as far as I know. The 650 also has pressure specs smack dab in the middle of auto oil presure specs, so ther is nothing wrong with using an auto filter. Some of these filters do not have the thread clearance needed for a grizzly 660 of a P400. I know from trial and error, so be careful thinking that one filter will fit all atv's. I think the P400 filter will fit a majority of ATV's, but the filters from some ATVs will not fit the P400. The 650 does not need any clearance, so I would guess that a majority if not all filters with that same thread and o-ring will fit it. If you go down the oil filter isle, you may find more. There are 2 different thread specs for the really small filters. You will find about 1/3rd of the smallest filters will proly work. You probably can take a caliper into the store and measure the threads. As far as I remember there are no filters with that same thread diameter that do not fit the 650.

I have tried a few. They work. I have heard not to use the fram due to paper end caps or something getting fibers in the oil. I have used an STP SMO-017. I am gonna just use amsoil in the future.
