I got the measurments that evening before work but have been experiancing computer trouble......it;s a piece of junk......anyway. The two measurments i have are overall length (not including endcape) and appoximate diameter.

the length is 17 1/2"
diameter is between 3 3/4" - 4 " i was eyballing from the back is the reason for the approx measurement.

Whats the phonenumber for ProCircuit? I'd like to contact them to get some information.

Thanks

Here's the info for Pro Circuit:

Pro Circuit Products
2771 Wardlow Road
Corona, CA 92882
(909) 738-8050
fax (909) 738-8065

My can is 16-1/8" long NOT INCLUDING COLLECTOR OR END CAP. Just the aluminum can edge to edge. 3.75" diameter with a 1.75" core.

If you included your collector in your measurement. It is the same can as my T4.

You should call them. Let me know. Thanks!

the measurment was for the can only. It's about an inch and a half longer and about 1/4 in larger in diameter. I'll call PC tomorrow if i get a chance to get the low down. Looks like I may have gotten my hands on "pre procution" peice that was sent to a dealer for trial. I seriously doubt someone would have went through the hassle of buying a T-4 then ordering a Type 496 plate and swapin them out.

From the limited information i have been able to gather on the 496 for ANY bike is that they are longer and fatter. Internally the only difference is the type of packing. the 496 used what PC calls E-Glass packing. Don't know what the T-4 uses.

This is pretty interestin to say the least

True. You may have lucked out and bought a "test" pipe. Your can appears to be alittle longer. Judging by your pictures, the diameter is probably the same. Pro Circuit must be using magic packing or something. I've actually worked with different size can's, on motorcycles, and have a good idea what it takes to reduce the noise. Using a larger diameter can so that the hot gases have more room to expand when they enter the can. Also changing the core from a perforated to a beveled design to help deflect gases more into the packing. I would love to compare these cans side by side. Packing the glass tighter or using a less dense packing helps. But i don't think it will drop a pipe's noise by 6db which means you are reducing it (cutting in 1/2) twice. Then there are the reflective technology pipes(disc systems). They suck for higher RPM power or top end. I didn't even consider those type of systems on any vehicle I own. Changing the length of the can could reduce noice(more glass surface) but is usually done to increase torque.

You have a sound meter? Im going to measure mine this weekend. I guess the standard is 20" away, 45deg angle, 4000rpm. Correct me if I'm wrong. I have a Radio Shack SPL meter that I use for my home audio equipment. I'll give it a whirl just to see. I hear 102db for the T4 and obviously, 96db for the T496. I'll post later this evening and let you know.

I measured the sound level out of my T4. 102db my as%! More like 110db. It's loud for sure. Cartman, if ya get a change, borrow a meter and measure yours.

Hey Cartman...I screwed up. My can is 4" diameter...exactly. Can length is 16 -1/8". The core is 2.0" and not 1.75" like I thought. The end cap is 1.75". Sorry for the bad information. Let me know what your inside core is and if you can measure the sound level.

Just got off the phone with ProCircuit. Man this is odd. They say they DO in fact make them and the STILL make them. Give them a call at 909-738-8050 and they can tell you how to get your very own!

VFORCESTAN, i'm stumped as to why your dealer cant get them for you. Good luck!! It's a kick *** pipe!
