Finally took a spin on a V-Force

I have to admit when I first test rode the V it felt slower than I thought it would. I sold my Raptor and bought it anyway. Once I lined up against several other quads including raptors and z400's I realized how deceiving the auto tranny is. It's not the fastest but it is actually faster than you realize. Spring change keeps it accerating better at higher speeds. I love it now and wouldn't trade it for any other quad.

"The stock 700 is SERIOUSLY detuned to keep knuckleheads like us from getting hurt"
My local dealer sold a Lava Red and Orange "V" to to a Knucklehead, Red for him Orange for his wife, he had them put pipes , K&N jetting, Nuefs, Bumpers ect.
Mr. happy came in to pick it up, With the salesman (aka Rocket Scientist) whatching he desided to take it for a test ride. In the Asphalt Parking lot, (no Dirt withen miles of the dealership).
And guess what happened.... Yes he Crashed it!!!!
In my humble opinion, The V-force has great potential with relatively simple modifications. If a Novice Rider starts with a stock V and make changes one at a time as his budget and skills allow. He can build a seriously competitive ride and be able to hold his own with most Riders/Machines that he comes across.
Remember it takes a Rider and a Bike to win even in a drag race. I watched two buddies of mine race. One on a stock Z-400 and one on a Piped Predator. The Z-400 won 3 straight, they traded bikes and the Predator won three straight!

Then when I finally got to start it, it wasn't the deep throaty beast I thought it would have been. Sounded alot like most other stock sport quads. Then after it warm up I hopped on it and took off. I just putted around the dealership for a few minutes attempting to get used to the ergos. Then the owner walked inside to answer the phone and off I went. When I pinned the throttle I wasn't expecting the delay then it took off, not as fast as I thought they would be. Reminded me alot of a bigger Polaris Sport 400L. The front end didn't like to stay down till about 15MPH. It wasn't about to throw me off either, the front tires were probably around 6 inches off the ground. So then I thought it's wheelie time. So I pinned it leaned back some then up came the front pretty smoothly, alot like the Grizzly 660. I thought that these were seriously fast??? Not anywhere near the speed of what I am used to, but the motor is definately there. I think they remind me to much of a utility quad than a sport quad. If only it was a manual tranny!!! Doesn't seem much faster than my friends Grizzly, was this one just not broken in properly?? By the way it was a used quad so it wasn't brand new, supposedly had 20 hours on it. Was this one just defective??
Thanks

I want everyone to know that I am in no way ******* on the V-Force. I am pretty sure they are detuned quite a bit, just like a Raptor. I am positive that with just a few mods it will not be something that you would want to disrespect. The motor is there, I know it is. Just that the auto tranny sucks so much of the power away. Most of you people seem to agree with me, that when you put a different spring in it, it is a totally different machine.
enFORCER,
Yes, I know my Honda is junk, that is why I went to ride the V-Force. I think my junk 400 Honda is a bit faster than the stock V-Force, I never got it topped out but I don't really care for top speed. You have never rode my 400 Honda so you cannot say how fast it is or isn't. Maybe the Honda you rode had the throttle limit screw at 3/4 so you wouldn't get hurt?? Mine is in no way stock and can easily run with piped Raptor's and Banshee's. I have Beaten a few Raptor's and from what I hear a stock Raptor against a stock V-Force, the Raptor will get it by around 5 quad legnths in 300 feet. Again I have never seen it but that is just what I heard.
I am in no way saying the V-Force sucks and that it is slow. All I said was that the stock auto tranny kills the power of the V-Force. I would really, really like to ride one that had some go-faster goodies on it. I think I would really enjoy it.
Not as fast as your used to hu? Yea right and you ride a honda 400POS, Yea we all no how fast those things are! You know maybe the dealer knew the kind of power you were used to, so he just turn in the throttel limit screw about 3/4 so you would not get hurt!!!!!!!!

~HEY WAIT!!
The 400ex is not JUNK!! Its is a good ALL AROUND Quad and Still performs well even with the old school tech! Like My 250R It handles VERY WELL and in the woods its not about the cubic inch! I own the V-Force and Like the Quad a lot!! Yes it is BIG and for someone coming off of a smaller Quad Im sure it can feel like a utility! It did for me! So I had to Buy a utility also!~LOL just to make the V-Force feel smaller!~LOL Automatic is strange at first also! I grab the brake a few times wanting to shift~LOL. The GREAT thing is there are many choices and ALL the Brands have there ups and downs! Along with whats right for one might not be just right with another! The Most IMPORTANT thing is get out there and have FUN and BE Safe! ~Ish416~ WEAR your HELMET WHEN EVER YOU RIDE!!
