Default Finally took a spin on a V-Force

I finally got to ride the V-Force around the dealership today. The first thing I noticed was how big it was compared to my 400EX. Then when I finally got to start it, it wasn't the deep throaty beast I thought it would have been. Sounded alot like most other stock sport quads. Then after it warm up I hopped on it and took off. I just putted around the dealership for a few minutes attempting to get used to the ergos. Then the owner walked inside to answer the phone and off I went. When I pinned the throttle I wasn't expecting the delay then it took off, not as fast as I thought they would be. Reminded me alot of a bigger Polaris Sport 400L. The front end didn't like to stay down till about 15MPH. It wasn't about to throw me off either, the front tires were probably around 6 inches off the ground. So then I thought it's wheelie time. So I pinned it leaned back some then up came the front pretty smoothly, alot like the Grizzly 660. I thought that these were seriously fast??? Not anywhere near the speed of what I am used to, but the motor is definately there. I think they remind me to much of a utility quad than a sport quad. If only it was a manual tranny!!! Doesn't seem much faster than my friends Grizzly, was this one just not broken in properly?? By the way it was a used quad so it wasn't brand new, supposedly had 20 hours on it. Was this one just defective??

Thanks

It sounded like it was running fine. My EX isn't as slow as what everyone thinks. It's actually alot faster than what most people think. Anyways, I'm not slamming the V-Force it was a nice machine just not what I was expecting and hoping for. How does your DS650 compare?

You must have been on a kfx 50. You do know that they both come in green.

LOL The first time I was on a 700 it was nice the second time was even nicer. I know my dealer had a hard time seting it up but when it was up it wouldn't come back down. very nasty after it adjusted propperly.

Well let me put it this way. I have a 650 prairie and a v force. I have raced several grizz and on average i beat them by 2-3 bikes. Now my v will smoke my 650 by 5-6 links, and thats when it was stock. So i would think that the V-FORCE is just a tad bit faster than the grizz. But i could be wrong

Ish,
a stock V-Force is quick, but not "seriously fast". For $20 you can make it a different animal though, because it responds very very well to simply removing the stock airbox snorkel, which is quite restrictive, re-jetting, and changing to a more aggressive primary spring in the clutch. It will cost you $20 and take a grand total of 30 minutes to make a V-Force a whole lot quicker than stock. In stock form they are quite detuned to keep dough-heads from buying one and getting hurt before they get it out of the dealers lot.

But even a stock V-Force will easily blow away a Grizzly in a drag race. I know, because I have one of each.

I wasn't saying that it was slow or underpowered, just that it wasn't what I was hoping for. Maybe it's deceptive in it's speed since it doesn't shift. I know that the motor is there, I just hate the auto tranny. If it just had a normal tranny it would definitely be a serious machine that I would probably own already. I imagine that some tweaking with the tranny would solve the problem. I never said it was slow, just not what I was expecting from 700cc. I also love my friends Grizzly it's awesome, so that in no way is a dis to the V-Force. It does feel alot like the Grizzly tho which is why I said it felt like a utility quad more than a sport quad and that is probably because of it's size. Overall, I really enjoyed it and wish I could take it somewhere to ride it for the day before I really pass judgement on it. I would love to ride one that had some modifications done to it.

The stock 700 is SERIOUSLY detuned to keep knuckleheads like us from getting hurt, and kawasaki being liable. If you did a few minor things to boost performance, then it's your fault when/if you get hurt. Be careful not to pass judgement on the auto tranny so quickly. I too was not so impressed with the fact I had no clutch, and I couldn't choose a gear. When we all get together and drag race in the dirt I never shift too early or late, never miss a shift, my clutch doesn't get hot and fade...etc. It will take some getting used to, but it will spoil you rotten!!
