battery charging, how long what amperage?
#1
I would like to know how long to charge my completely dead battery on my p700 and at what amperage since I was told the bike batteries are different than car batteries? Also has anyone had their battery go dead even though the charging system has been tested by thier dealer and was supposed to be working fine?

I've always believed those small batteries like lower amperage. I charge mine on the 2 amp setting on my battery charger, for a day or two. That may be the slow way, but it seems safe.

I have a Battery Tender that I leave on my quad all winter. When I'm ready to ride, so is the quad!
Do a search or look on eBay. They can be had for around $50. Works great on all bikes, quads, even my riding mower.

Check out the nearest Canadian Tire store. They have a trickle charger for about 20 bucks that works great, I think it's about 1 or 2 amps, which is all the smaller batteries can take without overheating. I set mine up so I have a two prong plug wired to the battery under the seat, when I want to charge the battery I simply pull the seat off and plug in the charger. It eliminates the chance of a clip slipping off a terminal when I'm not there, and you always know the polarity is going to be right, even if you're not the one plugging in the charger

I had a problem when I first got mine where the alternater or whatever its called, had a loose wire. It checked good at a stop, but after 20 minutes of riding it would be dead and the bike would sputter. took 3 dealer trips and 2 batteries to fix it for good.
