Default 700p rear shock

How do i adjust my rear shock? I know there is a tool in my toolbag for this, but which way do i move the collers on the shock to stiffen it up a bit..

I too am interested in this. When I go over small bumps fast I get a rattle at the rear that can be recreated by moving the bike back and forth with no load on it. It seems to come from the top of the rear shock.

i adjusted mine last weekend. it was a biotch! i had to take the shock off and put it in a vice and use 2 spanner wrenches which were inside a 3' bar for more leverage. it took all me and my friend had to bust that lock washer loose. after that you just turn the bottom washer the opposite way you turned the lock washer to tighten it. hope that helped
