belt removal

Well I tried again but it didnt come off yet I have good news. I am in the process of taking the drive pulley off. I made my own pulley holding tool out of WOOD and now all i have to do is get my hands on a puller bolt. When I put the drive pulley back on does it go on the same way or there any adjustment to worry about.

That is like going from PA to NY by way of alaska. I can't believe you would do that. It does go on the same way, but I would avoid doing that if I were you.
Almost everyone on this forum can get that belt off in 10 minutes (including the CVT cover).
I am sure that a lot of the people that read these posts are reading this one in horror or disbelief.
I apologize for sounding rude, but you are doing it the hard way. I would do it for free if you brought it to me. In fact, I would even buy you a pizza.

It will, I promise. If I had three hands I would take a video and show you. We all do it that way.
Maybe your secondary pulley is frozen. If it was you would only go 15mph max. You have to turn the driven pulley while forcing the belt to go over the side of the pulley. This causes the secondary pulley to expand and eventually you have to slack you need to get it off.
I guess you don't believe me. That is ok, since you dont know me. But all 3 of the other people that have posted do essentially the same thing. Come on, you can doo it too.

when i took my belt off i had someone turn the pulley with a breaker bar slowly counter clockwise while i got on the opposite side of the quad and reached over and pulled up and toward the outside of the pulley as hard as i could. once you get just a little bit of the belt on the ledge of the pulley all you have to do is apply pressure to keep it there while the other person turns the pulley and off she goes

I normally don't throw this information out because not knowing me, seeing how I ride, or how I work on things most people judge me diffrent. I was born with one arm and I can take the belt off myself. the past two days I did my muzzy exhaust and jet kit with air box mods. oh yea she rips now. getting ready to do the clutch cover, and weights next. I want to see how I like with just the pink spring first. keep working youll get it!

Only one arm and jroffroad can take the belt off? C'mon kfx400guy, go show that belt who is boss.
jroffroad, thanks for helping build a convincing argument. I have a photo of a guy with only one arm riding. He was just as good as the best riders (and better than me). Some day in the future you will find yourself with both arms. I know this.

I just got done taking mine off and it took less than a minute. Just use a 1/2 ratchet with a socket to fit the nut on the rear pulley. Start the belt off on the bottom and slowly turn the ratchet forward while pulling on the belt on the bottom. Keep constant tension on the belt by pulling it towards you. Once you've got it going, you can bump the starter and it'll come right off.
