P650 Mods
#1
Just did the NYROC muffler mod, the EPI secondary spring, new spark plugs and a new K&N filter. When I did the mod, I cut the packing from the end as stated by NYROC. What complications may this cause as far as legality of this muffler now. Alls I know is it really rocks now with these 2 mods adn I have yet to get the primary spring replaced or the air box mod. Didn't get to ride to much, but sure noticed a big change and was well worth the effort! Any help on the muffler question would be great. Also, what is the best spring for the primary; the bright green or the pink? I know this is not easy to answer, just looking for some feedback before I get the new spring. Thanks!

noxam as far as your muffler i does not have a spark arrestor now. the springs, its all in what you will be doing (pulling, racing or trail riding). theirs alot of people on this forum that have different spring combinations and they like the setup that they have. for $23 you can change to any spring that you think you would like to try. i have the 700p spring in my 650p now and i noticed the rpm has risen higher, next spring i dont know! kissofdeath did a spring comparison test look for it here http://techtip.homeip.net/tipview.cgi?dir=prairie. this should help you out.

Noxam, you may need to rejet if you drilled holes and removed the packng at the tip.
Get the DG snorkle for more power. Get a holeshot module (they all perform the same).
Get a Dyna CDI or a DG unlimiter module for full power (not exactly sure if that is what DG will call it, or when it will be out, but it sounds totally cool).
You can also put an 03 airbox on with a twin air filter. It doesn't make as much difference as other things, but it still helps.
Vforce cams will give it more higher rpm power. Penland or Web cams are good too. High compression pistons with Mickey Dunlap cams would give it even more power. Porting the heads will make any cam change even more effective. If you want to dust any stock quad, talk to newbeetle and/or prairiewrench. Theirs are really fast. Do not talk to Alltoys about performance mods. His modded quads are too fast for a mere mortal to ride.
Stiffer primary springs will make it launch quicker, but they may not be what you want if you ride recreationally or if you work the 650 at all. The higher engagement rpm is not ideal for belt life. I am not saying it would eat belts, but it can be little worse on belts when towing or plowing.
The P700 spring is a good one, like deer chooper said and it isn't too wild. Here is the spring test. Kissofdeath liked the Dalton Plain/white as well as the P700 Stock spring.

I have also been told that the p700 belt is better than the one off the p650.

I was already running a litle rich before the exhaust mod, so I need to wait and see after I ride for a bit to re-check the plugs to see whats up. I was planning on doing the NAPA hose mod as well and probably the dial-a-jets too. Thanks for the help. Maybe I'll get the Dalton or the EPI pink spring and give it a go!

Noxam,
FYI: I recently added the Napa hose/Nyroc Mod/Twin Air filter and DAJs all at once....with all of these mods, I was running too rich with the stock main jets, so I had to drop 2 sizes on my main jets and now it runs very good.
Happy trails...
