Default Tips to Lower Sound on Yoshimura Pipe

I was planning on taking my KFX400 to a local riding area owned by the forest service, and I read they have a 96 decible sound limit, and my Yoshimura pipe puts out 101 decibles. I can order one of those TEC inserts to lower the sound, but it will take a week or so to get here. A buddy told me to stuff steel wool in the pipe and it will lower the pipe sound. Anyone know if that's true or have any other ideas for a temporary sound reducing solution? Thanks.

Steel wool or that other stuff they use in crack pipes (not that I would know anything about crack pipes). It's copper colored wire pads they use to clean pots and pans. Are they really gonna bust you over 5db
