Default To all NYROC muffler mod guys

I own a stock 03 650 Prairie. My quad is in a town where we ride in town, to the lake, to store,to friends etc. Question, before I buck the end off my pipe is; how loud is this mod? Plan to put snorkle and K&N filter, Black EPI spring installed as we speak, and new Dyna CDI in the mail. We ride at night through town and I really don't want to bug the entire town. Also, since everyone will be behind me, what's it like to be around all day? Any help will be appreciated as, input may lead to quieter alternative, or keeping stock set up. Thanks all.

It is not much louder than stock. I just did the mod last week and I was suprised at how quiet it was. I did 8 - 3/8" holes and cut the baffle out of the end. It is no louder than a stock grizzly I would say and it actually sounds better than that or better than just stock. Hope this helps.

When I modified mine I didn't want it loud either so I put the 6 3/8 holes in but only cut off the internal portion of the spark arrestor. When you remove the end of the muffler you will see what I'm taliking about. The true NYROC mod has you removing the complete spark arrestor which will make the outlet huge in comparison, if you look at the end of your muffler you will see how big the hole will be with it removed. The performance gains may not be as great but if your like me you will give up that little extra for the quietness.

I have ridden with those that have done the complete mod and it's not real loud like an aftermarket but noticably louder than stock. Mine is somewhere in between. One of these days I will take a sound reading (decibals) of it. HTH

I used a hole saw to cut the end off outside and inside the muffler, then pulled the packing out. It is straight through now, just not cut off inside. You will see what I mean when you cut the end off. I don't know how much this affects things as opposed to the true NYROC mod, but it has to be close.

It's probably better than stock but not a seat of the pants faster. I wanted a LITTLE more noise not loud. I wanted to hear the exhaust of the V-twin not the belt whining.

I don't really know, I did the black spring the same day and I noticed a big difference in the take off. Like the new sound now too, much more better!

I'm not sure what the muffler for a V-Force is like but I assume it's very close.

Basically what you do is cut the end of the muffler off, drill some holes through all the baffles with a long drill bit, cut out the spark arrestor in the tip and weld the end back on. There are several threads about this that give more detail, you should do a search. Too bad NYROC's site is down there are step by step instructions there, maybe someone else has them.
