Use the KAW oem part finder for an idea of how things go together, TDC is easy just remove the 2 screw in plugs on the mag cover. The one near the top will let you see the mag it has a T and an F marked on it. T=TDC and F= when it fires. The center plug is for a socket to turn the motor over, makes it easier than the kicker. Remove the timing chain tensioner, this thing is self adjusting so when you put it back you'll need to take out the bolt in the end of it and use a strait screw driver to wind it back up to reinstall after the new cam is ready. As you know there are 2 cam's IN and EX, the sprocket on the end of each one has a dot, to time the cams the dots will be level with the top of the head. Look close at things on TDC before you take it apart, it's easy to do realy, I hope my bit of info helps. No special tools only metric tools. only my 2 cents.
