You just need a very long screwdriver thats thin or on eof those thin pocket knives and some good light. If anyone wants to pm me their email address, i can send a pic of the screws.

Yes, they are the same fuel screws everyone has been talking about. Depending on they're position on the carbs they get a specific name. If the screws are between the carb and the cylinder they're called fuel screws. If the they're between the airbox and the carb they're called air screws if I remember correctly. But they both do the same thing only one adjust fuel and the other adjusts air. Our V-twins have fuel screws since the position of the screw on the carb is between the carb and the cylinder. HTH

try and jet it. those pops could possibly be your mixture is too lean.. the excess fuel is popping randomly and it is very bad... eventually it will shave your engines crown away.. re jet it

Rejetting is definitely NOT necessary for a stock machine. Prairies come lean from the factory for emissions. This is a very old issue for prairies. The low speed screws need to be richened and the popping/hard starting goes away.

Glad I saw this post, I was just looking at trading in my rubi for a 650 prairie and it was doing the same thing when I cranked it for test ride. This one is also smoking and popping.Dealer said it was the because the gas in it was old from sitting on the lot ( its an 02 model).

Lightman: my p650 is stock, rejetted and the clutch dialed in for 12,000 ft altitude. Do you have any ideas about rejetting necessary when I install the new cdi? I know enough to have 93 octane in it when the new cdi goes in.
Mudrider2: some dealers blame everything on 'bad' gas. Why is he trying to sell something that doesn't run? Replacing to fresh fuel is easy. I never buy the 'bad' gas b.s. from salesmen, mechanics, whoever. Whatever is wrong with it, it should be running great before any money changes hands. My 2 cents.

The only reason I am looking to trade is my rubicon only has 300 miles and 1 year old and I have had to pay 1500.00 to have the engine reworked and now they want 1500 more to replace the trans. and I bought the extended warranty.(dealer and honda keeps saying not covered because of abuse) Oh yeah, this has all been since february.......
