What do you guys use for Race Gas?

Where do you get it, what size cans?

How's it delivered and the Cost?

Check local snowmobile shops, especially those involved in racing. there are a few dealers in my area that sell VP race fuels. Comes in 5gal.-55gal. containers. Price is around $6.00 gal. VP Fuels

 

I have 1000 gallons of 100LL av gas at home. I buy it for my plane and use it in my other machinery, including the 4 wheelers. Last purchase was around 2.00/gal., a few months ago.

 

You should only use race gas on highly modified high compression engines. Using it on a stock or slightly modified engine will not help and will actually hurt performance, not to mention your wallet. Cam2 is the most widely available race fuel in my experience, and is around $5/gal. At least 3 gas stations near me have it.

 

exxon 109 octane 4.50 gallon sold at my quad mechanics shop. i run it in my V and it does work. did a little test with it today ran extensive drags with aother V with very very similar mods to mine only thing his didnt have was the dalton clutch cover.. with normal 93 octane gas whoever got off the line first won... after lunch after i let my tank run out i added my 50/50 exxon109/93 octane mix no matter if he got me off the line the V walked him down with a quickness. not to mention i was able to barly beat my buddy on his modded YZF 450 a feat i have yet to do before this. so in my opinion race fuel does help you just have to decied is the ridding your going to be doing that day worth the 5 bucks a gallon your going to pay....

 

I talked to the vp guys at the automotive performance industy trade show and they said they came up with a gas specificly for atvs and said it works real well ????? JH

You are 100% correct! I'll also mention that without a high compression engine you won't even be able to start your bike in cold weather with race fuel.

 

in no way am i trying to start a war but then i guess my V is just speacial. it loves the race fuel and has only givin me gains from it no starting trouble this morning fired right up. but who knows mabey kawi slipped high compression pistons in there when i wasnt looking.

 

Lower octane fuel ignites at a much lower temperature than race fuel. Use too low octane in a race motor and you'll likely melt a piston. Run high octane in a stock motor and the fuel won't burn off completly resulting in carbon build up. Also, when running race fuel you need to drop jets like 5 sizes. If you're running stock jets you're getting WAY too much fuel causing even more carbon build up. These are FACTS. I'm not saying that your bike doesn't run well on race fuel but if you continue to use it you will be rebuilding your engine in the near future.


PS-Living in Kentucky you have no idea what COLD is. I'm talking -10 to -40.

 

I like to use the VP ult 4 fuel it gives you a 6% power gain and is only about 93 to 95 octane. The down side is it has a strong odor to it. The V-force runs great on it and I didn't have to rejet. The power increase was quite noticeably.
