Shotgun,I think Kevin Freeman at the Sled Shop right there in Presque isle used to be a TORCO dealer,If not there is one in Houlton I think. Do not use a colder(higher octane..slower burning)fuel than you need to prevent detonation (from things like timing,compression for your situation),as it may not only slow you down a bit,but it will still be burning out in your valves.
Ther is a local road race street bike track where a lot of guys were using race fuel that did not need it found out the hard way.
Fuels like Ultimate 4(four stroke),MR2,MR4,MR8 from VP,Stealth lightning from torco,etc do give hp gains and are available in different octanes and formulations for different applications(2 stroke,4 stroke,blower,etc) These ones are OXYGENATED.They chemically create O2 . Normally they require a little more jet size. If you are already a little rich you will see gains just by adding them if you use the proper octane.In some 2 stroke applications I have heard of people going up as much as 8 jet sizes to keep from burning down.If you go to any sanctioned races you will NOT pass fuel tech. I personally do not care for these fuels,as they are very dangerous.They contain ingredients like Propylene Oxide,which is a known cancer causing agent,and they absorb instantly through skin. Do not sniff it to see what it smells like.

How about octane boosters ??? I have been adding a 104 octane booster to my local 92 octane premium, with good results so far, on my 750 cc motor...

Octane boost is a joke. If you get a bottle that claims it will raise the octane 5 points, your 93 octane will be 93.5, not 98. It also lacks some of the chemical properties of the refined race gasolines and many of the hydrocarbon strains.

If this race gas is leaded don't run synthetic oil. This only concerns 4-stroke bikes.

Synthetic oil cannot clean ring lands of lead like dino oil can. This can cause ring sticking, low compression and oil burning.

I run race gas at Dumont since it's so hot and a low elevation. I'll put in 1 gallon of unleaded 110 and 4 gallons of 91.

ok understand im running a 50/50 mix would never think of running it straight. i have it from a repitable mechanic that it also makes the engine run cooler and yes dropping a jet size is sorta required.. and as for starting in cold weather at -10 to -20 any engine will have trouble starting { i grew up in northern PA so i do know what cold is}

Its all about compression and being able to burn the race gas. On my superjet(jetski), I have two sets of heads. 180psi rec riding head that runs 92 octane and a 210psi race head that is 105+ race gas only. The difference is night and day, but run race gas with the race head and it's sloppy. The only race fuel I have available is cam2 114 octane. Smells fantastic.
