Anyone try spraying the engine/underside with W-D as a release agent for mud-dirt-saltwater(as in beach sand) ? A duner at work says it helps but I don't know if I should try it. Some drawbacks I can think of are: attracting dust and dry sand, baking on to a non-removeable varnish......I have heard of Muddoff but never tried it.

I have done the exact same thing and have had no problems from doing so. I spray our quads before we ride at Pismo and after the clean up at home. I haven't noticed any extra sand that doesn't fall off after it dries out or any type of bake-on type of damages.

There have been other threads on here that have discussed this exact subject. Do a search and you will find there are different ways of protecting your quads.

This may sound crazy but what about using WD40 on an airfilter after cleaning it. Would this not be a good Idea? I know K&N filters have what seems to be an oily formula on them when their new, not sure what it is. Would this be something you definetely would not want to do ?

Bad idea. K&N's oil is tacky so dirt will stick. It also wont evaporate.

WD-40 is Kerosene. It will evaporate and is not tacky.

Another thing you can use to keep the cleanup easy is a spray on cooking oil. Pam works good.
