Lakota's Weight Loss program...
#1
Hey to all Lakota (and Mo) owners,
I just did some thinking, I know every Lakota owner wants their bike lighter, so this is what I did.
1. Removed Mud Flaps and all bolts and some mounting brackets
2. Removed Tool box, ( Put the tools in the document container, with rope), the box is sorta heavy
3. Removed heel guards (very heavy, but i wasnt sure if i want them off)
4. bunch of, brackets, bolts, guards, rubber, anything that wasnt useful
Now....these things turned out to be pretty heavy
*due to the fact all weight scales are different, and these things were hard to weight exactly, my numbers might not be EXACTLY correct, but they are accurate.
With #'s 1, 2, 3, & 4 removed....they weighed 22lbs...so 448 minus 22 = 426lbs...not to shabby, but then with the junk i put on, my kota is probably at something like - 436lbs..or less.
but some other things to consider are..
~ aftermarket pipe is lighter then stock
~ aftermarket tires and rims will save SOO much weight, those steel rims gotta be sooo heavy
( I plan on getting Front 22inch and Rear 20inch razrs on .125 aluminum, that should save alot of weight)
~ aftermarktet skids might save weight too
Thanks for reading.....just thought I'd share my ideas with other owners who might be interested in trying to "go on a diet"
Oh ya I ordered some N-Style Flamming decals and other cheap graphics, shes gonna look pretty good, I'm gonna post pictures when shes finished

big chris, if iwas you i wouldn`t have tooken off your heel guards. you had to hang the mojave nerfs from the frame, so it doesn`t look like you have any protection if your leg slips behind, i have seen 2 broken legs this way. just my opinion, everything else sounds good though.

Ya, Juniors
Thanks for the concern, I have actually considered that greatly, and they may end up back on, but what I was thinking is since I have T-30 boots I wear all the time, they are all enough were the upper back of the boot can rest on the plastic ( say like when doing a wheelie) but I did like the heel guards, just soo dang heavy, but I'm actually looking for some smaller after market heel guards.

I have done the same things to my Lakota. I was going to weigh all the stuff but since you did now I don't have to...thanks. I am also thinking about taking the battery down to my local battery exchange shop and see I can find that same battery that weigh's a lot less. I'm planning on putting on a clamp on filter and hoping the removal of the air box system gives me enough room to relocate the battery under the seat somewhere. That idea is still in it's early idea stage, not sure if it will work.
