Default OIL LIGHT QUESTION

My 650 did that once.... 4 months later the oil pump went. Mine only flashed though about 4 times and stopped. I shut the machine off right there and when I started it again it was fine. My dealer says those sensors fail but never heard of that from the people I talked too.
