Help a dream come true
#42
Sorry you feel that way, I would think you of all people would know what it means to help someone sick realize a dream, doesn't matter if its Walk for life, or any of the other deserving charitys.
On one hand your saying we should do more to help people with cancer and on the other your saying it's wrong to help this lady, realize a dream, because she has cancer.
Brooke didn't just wake up one morning and decide she wanted to be in the Miss USA pagent. She has to be well deserveing, the same as the others.
I'm sorry about your family, I know its hard.

I agree with Glen. How do we know her mother even has cancer? It makes me NOT want to vote for her because they'd use her mothers sickness to get votes. Why don't they use this opportunity to ask people to participate in a Walk for Life? How about to contribute to cancer research? My father died from cancer. My grandmother had breast cancer and my mother has breast cancer. My cousin has cancer tumors twisted around his spine. If people want to do something good for people with cancer Why don't you participate in a Walk for Life or something? The only thing this does is help someone that isn't even sick. (the daughter) The whole thing seems shady to me. How could anyone in her family be proud that she won a contest because her mother has a disease and not because she deserved to win?

Sorry bud, but helping someone cheat to win over honest competitors is just wrong, whatever the motivation. As for your personal slur, it insults me and demeans you. I won't address it further.
I too wish you and your family never to have to go through the hardships and travail of this hideous disease.

MY FAMILY HAS and that's why I understand the value of organizations such as The Make A Wish Foundation - what we are doing for Brooke and Carla is no different! I know first hand the emotional boost a cause like this can mean to a person! Thanks again for everyone’s support. No matter how it turns out tonight Brooke and Carla have been touched by the overwhelming compassion from the members of this ATV forum and the top Professional and Amateur racers from the GNC and the GNCC. A very special thank you to those who asked me to forward e-mails of supports and personal testimonies on to Brooke and Carla. You are all very special people, I know because when people you don’t even know take the time to reach out and give you their support and share their survival story it gives you the enternal strength to make it thorough another day. God Bless You All!!!!

Actually, I type with my fingers. Would you like me to keep my fingers shut?
I will type my OPINION whenever I darn well please and about whatever I please. I have stated my opinion and if someone does not agree then that's their prerogative. Just as it is their prerogative to post their opinions and to vote for whomever they please. Is Oldyeller going to tell me which President to vote for next? Then tell me to shut up if I don't agree? I think I will vote now. Oklahoma
Freedom of speech. Just watch what you say.

Comparing voting for a Presidential Candidate to dealing with a devastating disease isn’t even in the same stratosphere. But weather you chose to support this cause or not if you woke up tomorrow and discovered that you have a life treating disease you will see things and understand things you never gave a second thought to before.
Like I said, I’ve been on the receiving end of such compassion and generosity and I know first hand that it’s those hundreds of strangers you don’t even know who reach out to you and show you support and share their stories with you that help you make it through today. And it’s those strangers who give you the strength to go through another day of treatment, tomorrow. It’s those people who have already been through the pain and confusion that help you find that little bit of hope to hang on to, no matter how small it might be. It is what makes a difference!!!
Think what you want of me, but when your family is struck with any life threatening disease there are plenty of people on this forum who know my phone number. Please feel free to call me and I will reach out to you and help you find the support that will help you make through the day. I will spend hours to help you find a local support system of people who have already experienced what you are experiencing so they can take turns being by your side as you deal with the emotional roller coaster. I will help get the word out that may help you realize that one last dream you have, no matter what it is. Why? Because I’ve been there! That’s what freedom is all about, but more important is that it’s one of life’s lessons you learn when you or a member of your family is devastated with a debilitating disease and if you are one of the lucky ones, like my family was, you will survive and it will be you that reaches out to someone.
Brooke and Carla don't care if Brooke wins Miss Photogenic or not, it's the reaching out of support that has blessed them and made them stronger. Your right though it is a matter of opinion but once you have experience it I promise you your opinion can change real fast and Coyotechaser I'm glad you voted, just be thankful you were able to vote by typing with your fingers because there's human beings out there who can't!
I believe this has gotten out of hand so I will not even open this page again. The bottom line is that many strangers reached out to help another human being and that is what is really important. Good luck to all of the contestants tonight.
