Mojave Valve Springs?
#1
I just bought some WB cams and a KLR250 black box for my mojave. I`ve heard from some people that I should get a valve spring kit and other people say I shouldn`t. Well is there anybody here who has bought some WB cams for their Mojave and did you get some new valve springs?

New valve springs wouldn't be a bad idea, especially if you have some serious mileage on your motor.
Primary reason you would want to change the springs is to reduce the chance of valve float.
Since your throwing some mods on your quad, more than likely, you'll be turning more rpm's than you did when it was stock.
Well, depending on valve spring tension, at specific rpm's valvetrain cannot keep up with the crank and cam. Resulting in the valve not properly opening and closing to it's full potential. You can also easily bend or break a valve if this happens.
If you plan on rev'ing the gears out (like most of us do) just take the time and replace them with a tad heavier spring.
Preventative maintenance in my book.

On my 1990 Mojave I have WB cams, ported polished, coated 11.5:1 Wiseco piston, Cobra JET exhaust, KLR250 balck box and more. I am using the stock valve springs with no problems. If you read the sheet that came with the cams I think it tells you , you don't need heavy duty valve springs.
