Default EPI RED SPRING

I do 3-5 mud runs per year, otherwise I use my 650 to plow, haul wood, & light trail riding with my son.
I have the Black Secondary spring. Do you think the RED SPRING would be helpful or a hindrance for my above riding preferences?
Thanks for the help!

The red spring is good for mud runs... but as I mentioned on another forum, the EPI pink, or Dalton blue would probably be a better all around spring... however, it is very easy to change out the primary spring ... 1/4 of what is involved to change the secondary... perhaps if you got the red, then could switch back out to the stock, for working & normal riding... also, you can fine tune your spring, with up to 3 spring shims... about 100 rpm more stall per shim...

I agree with newbeatle
Not that hard to change the primary
I"ve been running the red EPI for over a year now....and love it
you get used to the high stall.....
I dont plow any snow...well with a blade anyway
the only wood I haul is in my Levi"s

I have read many people saying how they cannot ride witht eh red spring. For the life of me I don't know what they are talking about. I can tell it engages higher but people have said the bike is too hard to ride tricky stuff and etc. I can easily take off with it without hardly noticing it.

Personally I like the red primary... for the agressive style of riding that I do
as far as technical riding like rock challanges....you get used to the high stall
no problem

From your knowledge does the Red or Black spring effect the top speed compared to the original ones?

The red spring seems to me to be a good intermediate spring as far as stall goes. The difference between it and the stock is truely not that great. If technical riding you use a combination of throttle and break. Use enough throttle to make the bike want to move but enough brake to hold it back. The red spring is one of the best things as far as mods go that I've found even though is't inexpensive and involves little work to install.

the black spring will rob you of about 2 maybe 3 MPH top speed...did me anyhow
but it is well worth it IMO
