650p dragged a z400
i went to a poker run yesterday(rally in heric valley) with my buddy(400ex). its a great coarse. alot of tight turns, off camber up and down turns, little mud, greasy hills and we hit some straight aways and it would slowly gain on him. i always let him lead so i know when to turn. when i knew he was going to get on it , i was on it and i would start to catch up. i wanted to drag him but he had hole shot problems. so i left it at that. with the cdi it runs great, starting is easy( no gas), pulls hard all the way through. hopefully today i will see my neighbor today (z400). if i race him today i will report back with results.

If the Dyna CDI has the prairie beating a pipe and jetted KFX 400 then the individuals that are posting and challenging its $240 worth are on glue. You are beating a machine close to 300 pounds lighter with all the fluids in her. And no, the KFX isnt a Raptor, but when breathing right she runs very good as well. I have seen the holeshot module in action and other then improving the machines ability to wheelie was not impressed with what it did over a 300 ft run. Fact is, mine without the module, traded runs with the guy (his quad did seem far more worn then mine however and at the time I had the jetting nailed and was doing pavement stands when i punched the throttle on take off).
I am getting the dyna...i like the fact its plug and play and a replacement for the stock CDI. Sounds like people are enjoying the DG3, but I would just soon replace then try and trick it and then add a fly wheel key to bring it to the Dyna CDI's capability (I do not know if this has to be done...just going off others post who has the module). Anyway I am looking for more feedback on the CDI so keep the post coming.
KFXCarnage...what type of improvements did you see with the gearing change. I am interested ... i have been going to a very aggressive tight track with my son (learning MX on a little Honda CR 85) and every inch is whoops, jumps, or turns...several points are where second is a little to low and she lugs slightly in third...would like to hear what you noticed with the gear change...thanks

I think you misread my post...with my rambling i can understand that. Didnt make reference to you beating him...i believe it was cueball that i was referring too.
As far as $240 worth of glue...i meant to say that if the CDI improves performance to the point people are beating the KFX 400...then those posting that the CDI isnt worth the cost of the mod ($240) are sniffing glue or on drugs...cuz what more can you expect for speed performance in a utility machine than beating far lighter sport bikes in drags.
I actually agree with you...i was surprized how mine lined up against a 400ex (lost) and my KFX 400 (lost by more)...but impressed everyone around with how well it did. Actually i put her in 4 wheel drive one time against the 400ex and got him out of the hole...but he reeled me in. The V-Twin is impressive and my opiniion is the prairie is the best overall package in a Ute quad...bar none. Hope that clears it up...good post as it has generated alot of good feedback.

My 650 has a pipe, black spring, and snorkal, the 400 was stock. The drag was a 1/10 of a mile on a slight down hill. I lost every time in 2wd by 2-3 lengths. In 4wd i beat him by 2-3 lengths. My post of when i raced him. Snorkal, just the 7335 hose.
Now i shouldnt have any problems with him.
Next time i go riding with him, ill bring the camcorder.

well i havent seen my neighbor out yet ( z400). but i finially got a good race with my buddys 400ex. we were on hard pack for take off then to gravel. i had him by 4 to 5 bike lengths. i even had time to look back while removing my baseball cap ( didnt want to go and pick it up. its an orange county choppers hat) to see where he was at. i had him for 400' then he hit mid 4th gear and slammed 5th and pulled away slowly. all in all thats not bad for 600+lbs quad + the big driver. we did the nyroc muffler mod to his ex and he jetted it.
