Default Holeshot ATR's on a P-700??

rips the lugs off!!! Boy I can't wait to get my prairie. Just sold my Z-400 to make room in the garage and now I am quadless till the camo comes in. I'm still really torn about tires though. Maybe I should buy both?

I have the ATRs on my Rincon and agree with trx 450 that they are a great trail riding tire --- HOWEVER, they are VERY FLAT PRONE (sidewall and the tread). I ride mostly in the mountains in Pennsylvania (fast trail riding) and have gotten about 12-14 flats in the ATRs. My buddy on his Prairie 700 has gone the same number of miles on his Maxxis Bighorns (on the same trails) flat free. Suffice to say, I have a pair of radial Bighorns in the garage that I'm going to put on this week and give them a try.

Atr's are great trail tires and high speed tires, which I said earlier. I love them in the dry season. They do stink in the mud and wet season. 700Hemi said he occasionally gets in mudholes so I would rule those out.

700 - I'd avoid ITP like the plague, their quality control stinks. So many people have had out of round atr's, mudlites wearing too fast, etc. My atrs have worn quickly in my opinion, and I get a wobble over 45mph.

700Hemi - I highly suggest you look at the GBC Dirt Devils. They perform well all around, are 6ply, and the price is great. Othwerwise check out some Goodyear Mudrunners, although they are pricey.

Also, I would stick with 26" tires if you want to retain any of the sportyness of the quad. Unless you need the extra ground clearance for mudding all the time, stick with 26.

ATR's get great traction and that is it period..... I sent two rear sets back to ITP because they leaked on brand new beadlocks. Each set wouldn't hold air! They were good for the tires but it stunk! I even put high pressure tire sealant from a semi truck tire shop! The guy I sold them to has had 2 flats since!

At high speed (starting at 65mph. up to 75mph.) they would shake the handlebars just about out of my hands. My buddies couldn't believe my back axle wasn't bent. Well today I hit 77mph. on asphalt with my new Maxxis Alltracs and smooth as silk! I think it had something to do with the radial?

Just my opinion!

if you hit mud occasionally you should consider the Maxxis Bighorn. Word is they are coming out in 27" sizes this summer!!!!

the atr's a sweet in everything but mud. They mud as good as stock tires......which is pretty pathetic.

I would also buy Mudbugs before Mudlites....... just my .02

jjdog--- I have experienced LESS flats with the ATRs! I have run them about 4K miles TOTAL(on 2 sets), and have had NO flats! I think that I run in much the same terrain as you. Fast trails, some rocks, in the Appalachians. Guess I am just lucky...................................

Soundds like 26" Bighorns are the way to go then eh? I had good luck with my mudlites on the grizz but I'll try something new. Thanks for the info..I'll order a set today.

700 HEMI... go with either the Maxxis Big Horns or a set of ITP 589's and you can't loose....
