After One Real Cold Ride where it seemed all you have to do was touch a tree and the black Sides cracked or broke, I learned It was time to TRIM!! Looks much better and you still get about the same amount of protection! If anybody gets a little more muddy? Its your Buddys that are tryin to pass or behind You!..~LOL Other then the Trim I think the Plastic is very flexable and has helded up for me?

bbertram, have you ever been out east?Well if you don't mow over some bushes by times your not going off-road.It is thick out here, really thick, open forests are few and far between. No one wants to beat their bikes but unless you want to spend every waking moment cutting trails(not a popular practice with land owners)you have to drive through bushes and choppings,it isn't neglect or inattention its called four wheeling, but accidents DO happen.
DOA,I suppose Arctic Cat could cut down on some wieght, say by getting rid of the IRS or how about by making the plastic really thin and weak, wait now, then I would have a Prairie.HA!Arctic Cat 650-644 pounds,660 Grizz 600 pounds.WOW!!

I'm just used to my trails I suppose. Where I live there is already a beaten path. I do push bush every now and again but I'm carefull not to ram sticks into my quad. I suppose if pushing bush is your trail then I can see a problem.

Heyyou,
Your correct, I want tuffer plastic, the ole cat isn't that much heavier is it. Can't wait until you come down to have some fun. We have a chocolate mud hole waiting for you, I got stuck in it, filled my tires and high centered, you went throught it before but I don't know if you will now, it will be a good test and wondering if the Cat will pass, I didn't. The swamp hole will wash you out trying to follow me afterwards.(lol)
Loved those waterfalls buddy and going to try to keep them quite, somebody has been milking me hard about where they are but I don't think he should get to go again, he thinks he knows everything and been everywhere so why should we show him anything. Our other buddy was saying too, oh it must be in the book, as if he could find it without us, whose friend does that sould like. Some things you just have to try to keep to yourself or your biting off your nose.(philli-1=Toronto-0)
bbertram,
Shes a hairy place down here, we had a hurricane and you should see it, forests are being cut everywhere, trails are being swamped in brush and others are being totally closed off, what a MESS. Not to mentioned the easternshore back country, rock/streams/lakes/trees/rough. The snow makes it slimmy in the trails too and you are bound to get slid into the sapllings and that's all it takes for the Prairie to get danded up, she belongs in the wheat fields as her name states.
I was going to ask you if you have trees in manitoba.(lol) Why we have your attention, do you know if the EFI will ease the thumb pressure needed to run the throttle?

We got tons of trees in Manitoba, millions. hehe. Look at my website and look at some of the pictures. Look at the older ones.
I don't know if EFI would make the thumb throttle easier to push, depends on how the EFI is setup I suppose. Moving two carbs can be tough but I would think EFI would make it easier on the thumb.

bbertram,
Checked out your site and was wondering what kind of trees you have in the "July19/03 ride, looks hempy? Your older pictures are similar to here but we have a lot of rocks too boot, we have bogs/barrens also. The Prairie looks suited to your area better, man do you have some thick mud there bud, that's what I have waiting for Heyyou when he comes down, the test, the tire sticking mud test. If I keep on in here I will show you some awsome pictures of Nova Scotia.
I hope and it seems logical that the thumb pressure will be greatly reduced with the EFI, my old Bayou was much much easier and buddies Rubi is easier than than the 650's (it bothers him too though). I think Kawi better be careful, too many bunged up thumbs and... hope they are listening. I have a trigger guage, I might check different bikes and see where they all are. I think the throttle extensions might be dangerous, I have hit mine with my side getting chucked around in regular mode, let alone extended, leaning forward on inclines, turning the bars, it gets close, extensions scare me, I would rather just have the pressure back I had (again) on my old Bayou.
I like the Kawi floorboards but I like the 650Cats better, heavier and much much higher for midhangup clearance. Awsome boards on the King-Cat.
Come on EFI, come on Kawi,

I currently live up north, way up north and this is muskeg. Think of it as a sponge made out of grass, bark and whatever is on the ground. This is the stuff where if you have to much throttle your going straight to china. The key to riding muskeg is go slow and have steady throttle. The quad will sink really far but if you don't break through and don't spin you will make it. Unless you have crap tires. The quad in the July 19 2003 pictures is a friend up here, thats his Kodiak 400 with 589's. Not the best tire for this stuff. Up north here all we have is muskeg and sand. No rocks to speak of, we are above or bellow the canadian shield, not sure which. The trees up here are all very small and thinly spread out. Its not very dense at all.
Now down south is totally different, trees grow way way up, like 100 feet. The bush has many rivers, hills, trees, swamps, etc. Everything basically. The rives are great too because you have sections where its all rocks and deep water. I love rock crawling in deep water, god is it fun. There is some sand but not much. I'm moving down south soon so I will be quading in these types of places again. Old Quad Pictures Page 1 to Page 5 is how it is down south.
If you look on a map of Manitoba I consider the 53rd parallel and below down south and anything above is up north. But the July 19 2003 pictures are the type of environment only found in the Gillam and Churchill area of Manitoba, anything south from Gillam is normal.
Personally I think riding down rivers is the best thing since sliced bread. The rivers here are not to deep and very clear with a good bottom, usually rock and sand.
