KVF700/GAS SHOCK?
#1
Can you put air in this shock?I see an adjustment on the spring itself. Also noticed what look's like an air nipple on the side of the shock.I was wondering if it was for air. Also will wax take the camo of this 700?

Whatever you do, don't try and check the "air pressure" in your shock. A special guage must be used to check the pressure in the shock. The reservoir has a atandard shrader style air valve, but it is filled with high pressure, very low volume compressed nitrogen gas. Putting a regular tire guage on there for a second could release all the gas in the shock. The nitrogen is used to stabilize the oil in the shock, and without the nitrogen the shocks compression damping adjustment will become ineffective. You will notice it handle whoops very badly without the nitrogen. Nitrogen is used instead of air for a couple of reasons. First, nitrogen stays cooler, a shock filled with air, could heat up and deteriote or maybe catch on fire after a while. Also, air has water and other stuff in it that can corrode the shock from the inside.
I don't know about the camo, but I think it is impregnated into the plastic, so it should be pretty durable. Most car waxes are pretty easy on plastic, but there are better products. you could get some boat polish, or a product called Plexis that is kind of like Pledge furniture polish that works awesome.
