Warn 2.5ci Winch problem!! Help!!
#1
Need a little help. The first day I got my Prairie 700, I rolled it and broke off the mini-rocker switch that was attached way high on the handlebars. After turning the quad back over, I heard a noise. The switch was broken and letting out the cable - only problem was that I wasn't there pulling the cable out. The cable was just spinning around inside and got very tangled. I finally found where the switch connected to the contactor and disconnected it. I put a new switch in, hooked the cable up to the back of my van and yanked the cable out. Now when I hit the winch switch, it just makes a loud clicking sound. Is my contactor bad, or do I need a whole new winch. Oh - a guy told me to test the winch by connecting jumper cables to the winch directly from the battery. The winch did turn, but very slowly.
Thanks for your help.

I feel like a complete idiot for admitting this, but I figured out what it was.........
I forgot to hook the positive cable back up to the battery that lead from the winch or the contactor (I am not sure which). The sound I was hearing was just the contactor working properly. That is not one of the smartest things I have done!!
Thanks for the tips.
