I guess they assume the factory had no idea how to build a regulator correctly. Wouldnt a switch to turn off your charging system when you want to race be more usefull? How would you know with that one? I would never buy it.

that sounds awesome and it makes perfect sense however 8 percent increase is a little high i would think. 8 percent would be 3 to 5 hp witch would be a decent seat of the pants feel and i think if that were so we'd hear all about a backordered product. also they say redesigned which means the first ones were not what they advertised.
the magnet does put a load on the motor no dought but to say it cost you 8 percent is a little?

I don't know about how much power is lost on a quad charging system but I do know that a car does take about 3-5 horse to run.alternator test machines use a 5 hp electric motor to test.

The Prairie's generator specs are in the front of the service manual, but I believe it is something like 25A at 14V. That would be 350 watts at it's maximum rated load. Each Horsepower is about 746 watts. Even with only 50% efficiency, that would only be around a 1 HP difference between drawing full rated load vs. no load at all. Sounds like some funny math to me?
