Default Belt LED is on all the time

I can't figure this out. My 03 Prairie belt LED came on (not flashing) during a ride in February. I checked my belt deflection and it was fine, .95" and the switch was not flipped. It never went into "limp home" mode either. I have been through the belt LED reset procedure and still the LED comes on after the Prairie starts and stays on always without flashing. I have looked through my entire service manual and can't find anything. Anyone have qany ideas???

You don't happen to have at or around 100 hours on the quad, do you ??? It is likely the 100 hour service check... look at NYROC's tech tips for the reset proceadure....

Good morning all--just reset my belt light last night----pull off your gas tank cover---switch bkack and grey plugs and insert back into each other opposite---black into grey and grey into black---turn your key on and disconnect the two wire plug coming up from the clutch cover---leave disconnected for like 30 seconds---shut key back off and reconnect everything---when you restart--light should be out---mine came on at 87 hours on the speedo but I had bike a couplke of weeks before I installed the speedo---will be changing to syn oil this week

Default Belt LED is on all the time

Hi Meangreen650,

I tried the battery disconnect and it still stays on. I have already tried the reset procedure like you did. I am at a loss here. Not sure what to do except maybe let it stay on... Anyone else have any other ideas.

THanks

Did you try these proceadures off of NYROC's tech tips ???

Early 2003 650 Belt light reset procedure.

1. Turn the ignition switch OFF.

2. Disconnect the belt failure switch at the 2-pin connector above the CVT cover. (Note: Just follow the wires coming from the rectangular black box on the CVT Cover to locate this connector.)

3. Disconnect both sets of 5 pin connectors located above the CVT cover. Note: These connectors are located just beneath the shift handle on the right side of the 650; one is black and one is grey.

4. Connect these 5 pin connectors to their opposite pairs (grey to black and black to grey).

5. Turn the ignition switch ON.

6. Observe the belt-warning lamp. It should be flashing at a 0.4 second interval for a few seconds then start to flash slower. Let the lamp flash for at least seven seconds.

7. After seven seconds or more, turn the ignition switch off.

8. Reconnect 5 pin connectors to their proper location (black to black, grey to grey).

9. Connect the belt failure switch 2-pin connector (wires from CVT cover).

10. Turn the ignition switch on to confirm that the belt warning light is not flashing. Retry this procedure if needed. As far as I have heard it always works if the belt switch isn't tripped and there are no electrical problems.

Late 2003 and 2004 700 Belt light reset procedure.

I did try the reset procedure as outlined by NYROC and the service manual. Funnt thing is, the LED flashing indicator did happen when I went through the procedure but after it was complete, the Belt LED satyed on after I turned the ignition back on. I will try disconnecting the CDI next... Thanks!!! I will post any solution I find.
