Default Belt LED is on all the time

Last week my 100 hr light came on at 85 hours(probably close to a 100 hours but i didnt add speedo until about 3-4 weeks after purchasing. Light was not flashing but on steady. I did the procedure and it flashed fast, and then slowed down---i hooked everything back up and it is working fine.

Are you waiting long enough with wires switched and belt trip switch disconnected??Is your light flashing when you switch the grey and the black??? Maybe you shouldnt turn your key on until after you have switched wires and unplugged belt switch

hope this helps a little

this is different than the the 100 hr light and different than the belt switch being tripped . ihave done the reset proceedure many times this did not help. i noticed you said your 100 hr light did not flash but stayed on?

Default Belt LED is on all the time

Hey Ole Man Moses nailed it! I finally got my light to come off... The differnece was, after I reveresed the black and grey plugs with the ignition off, I unplugged the two wire connector from the cvt cover after I turned on the ignition. NYROC's directions and I believe the service manual has it to unplug the two wire connector before you turn on the ignition. Meangreen650, I hope you see this. Unplug the two wire connector after you turn on the ignition. Thanks Ole Man Moses...

Java out.

I had the same problem for months untill we came to the conclusion that the ignition unit was bad....the intermitant light after reset is due to a bad ignition and needs to be replaced..if you cannot reset it then maybe you are connecting the small plug above the ebc in the wrong order..that is the last one to connect and only after the reset is complete and the other 2 plugs are back to normal..additionaly look at the switch inside the tranny cover..it must be pointed to the back of the bike no matter what its label says..some late 02's and early 03's are mislabled

OK now this is bothering me.... When my belt light comes on my bike goes in too limp mode.... I know with the Dyna CDI it wouldn't but I don't want the CDI. Now I know the CDI wasn't availble in Feb. so your light was on since feb? I take it yours doesn't trip the limp mode just the light which is what I want. I'm on my 4th reset on my 5th month of having the bike now just because of hours! My friends are saying it's because the kawi wants a rest. What am I missing?

I guess im not understanding you..its probably my beer..erp my fault..lol..some of the models dont trip the limp mode.mine does ,my bros dont..go figure..if it does trip intermitantly then yes..its a problem somewhere in the ingition circuit..my understanding is it doesnt have to be the cdi, could be almost anywhere..my ignition under the frint fender was replaced but not the cdi and that took care of it..hope this helps..

with mine 700 the hour meter trips the limp mode and puts the light on solid. I don't mind the light but the limp mode for when the belt is good drives me crazy. From reading other posts some bikes don't put the bike into limp mode; the hour meter only trips a light and doesn't disable a perfectly good bike. When you put the Dyna CDI in all the belt limp mode / reverse overide is disabled. Maybe I should be looking my electical parts a little closer because if it was only going once an hour that would mean I have 400 hours on my 700. My 650 02 doesn't have any thing like this I beleive the late 03 and the 04 are the same.
